Clinics & Services
In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of clinics and healthcare services:
Diabetic Clinics
These are run by the practice nurse at both surgeries. Patients are invited for an annual review of their condition.
COPD Clinic
Lung function is monitored annually by pulmonary function testing performed by the practice nurse together with a review of the condition.
Asthma Clinic
Patients with asthma should ensure that they attend to be reviewed when due by either the doctor of the practice nurse.
Cervical Smears
These are offered routinely to all women aged between 25 and 65 years of age on a three yearly basis. The practice nurses are trained to do these.
Child Health Surveillance
These are carried out by the Health Visitors who hold baby clinics at the Health Centre in Norton on various days. They also hold one at the Village Hall in Endon on a Monday between 13:00 and 15:00 on a fortnightly basis.
Family Planning
We hold a family planning clinic on a fortnightly basis at both surgeries; at Orchard Surgery on a Tuesday afternoon and at Endon Surgery on a Friday morning. Counselling and advice, however, are given on all aspects by all of the doctors. This includes the fitting of coils, injections, etc. This service is fully confidential.
Emergency Contraception
This is provided by all of the doctors and nurses. This is a fully confidential service and the reception staff will make an urgent appointment if you require this. Emergency contraception is also available directly from the lo
cal pharmacies.
Maternity Care
All of the doctors in the practice are able to provide maternity medical services. Along with the community midwife you will be monitored throughout your pregnancy. Clinics are held on at Orchard Surgery on Monday and Thursday mornings and at Endon Surgery on Tuesdays.
Minor Surgery
We carry out the following minor surgical procedures at both surgeries by appointment only. These include joint injections, removal of cysts, simple lumps, etc.
Travel Vaccinations
These are provided by the practice nurses. You need to fill in the travel questionnaire obtainable from reception (or download one from the above tab) and hand it in before the appointment so we can determine which vaccines are suitable to your needs. Only specific vaccines are available for travel on the NHS. All other travel vaccines are chargeable as a private service to our patients.
Smoking Cessation
We now hold smoking cessation clinics at the Orchard Surgery on a Monday and Friday mornings, Please ask at reception if you wish to attend one of these clinics. You will then be contacted with an appointment to attend.
Lifestyle Checkups
We are currently sending out letters to patients aged between 40 and 74 years of age offering a Lifestyle check up at the surgery. If you receive one of these letter please contact reception to book your appointment.
